Though not a feature film, the short film "The Dime" told the story of Brian O'Conner separately from the main franchise. More recently, two films were released by Universal Pictures which are not part of the main franchise, but are still included here for nostalgia purposes. These films are 2 Fast 2 Furious and The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift. 2 Fast 2 Furious is set after The Fast and the Furious, but is not generally known as an official sequel due to its low budget. The third installment in this trilogy was released in 2009 entitled Fast & Furious, which revolves around Brian O'Conner's brother Brian Jr., who gets involved with street racing alongside his friend Roman Pearce during a trip to Cuba. The second trilogy is a more serious and complicated look at the franchise. The movies revolved around a former cop named Dominic Toretto and his crew of street racers. The first film of the second trilogy was Fast Five, released in 2011, which is also the first film to break from the traditional chronological order. It follows Dominic Toretto and his friends as they try to steal cars from a corrupt businessman in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
